Youth Theatresports competition
Improv Queensland is proud to be running the Queensland Youth Theatresports Competition. This is an annual competition for schools based in the Greater Brisbane region (and further afield!). The competition is a fun, low-stress way for students to learn more about improv and experience the excitement of performing theatresports for themselves.
School workshops
Are you teaching Theatresports or improv? Or do you have a team competing in the schools Theatresports competition?
Improv Queensland’s team of experienced teachers can run workshops for your students introducing them to the basic concepts of improvisation, theatresports games or more advanced improv concepts.
Become a Youth Theatresports judge
We are always looking for people passionate about Theatresports to become judges of our Youth Theatresports Competition. In particular, we are keen for former participants, coaches and teachers to join in sharing their knowledge with the next set of students.
Training for coaches and teachers
Improv Queensland also offers periodic training for coaches and teachers. This includes information sessions to let them know about how the competition will be run this year (and any artistic focuses) and in-person training to help build skills to be passed onto students.
We also aim to run a teacher PD each year to support teachers in bringing improvisation to their classrooms and schools.
Youth scholarships
Many of Improv Queensland’s current and former members discovered improv through the Youth Theatresports competition.
As such, Improv Queensland offers scholarships to former participants in the Youth Theatresports Competition to keep their Theatresports journey going.
Support youth theatresports
Each year, around 100 teams and 400 students from across South East Queensland take part, performing for an audience of around 1,200 people. Along the way, they develop confidence, creativity and teamwork through the challenge and fun of live performance. As a registered charity and not-for-profit organisation, Improv Queensland has been creating opportunities through improvisation for more than 20 years.
