Scholarships

Improv Queensland aims to promote the art and the love of improvisation within Queensland.

Our scholarship program assists individuals to join our classes by providing a full or part waiver of class fees.

We have three types of scholarship on offer – Artistic, Community and Youth.

Artistic Scholarship

We believe that improvisation can inform and be impacted by various art forms. To that end, we offer up to one scholarship each term to someone who is either:

  • a student who is studying a performing art at a tertiary institution in South-East Queensland.

  • A working performer (for example, clown, musician, dancer, singer etc)

Performing arts includes acting students, musicians, dancers, singers, comedians, clowns etc.

To apply, we ask that you supply your performance CV and a short video, audio or written piece on why you are interested in improvisation (maximum 5 minutes or 500 words).

The successful application will receive a full waiver of their tuition for their first beginner’s class. If they successfully complete the course, they will be offered a 50% discount on future workshops.

Community Scholarship

To help make improvisation more accessible, each term we offer up to one community scholarship to someone who would otherwise have difficulty affording the class.

To apply, we ask that you supply a short written, audio or video application (maximum 5 minutes or 500 words) explaining why you want to learn improvisation. You do not need to provide any financial information or provide us with details about your personal situation.

The successful application will receive a 50% discount of the tuition fees for one of our workshops. This scholarship can be used for our beginner’s classes or other regular workshops.

Youth Scholarship

We are keen to support students who have taken part in the Queensland Youth Theatresports Competition in the past who would like to continue learning and performing Theatresports. Each term we offer up to one full scholarship to an individual who:

  • has graduated from high school.

  • Took part in the school competition within the past 2 years.

  • Is over 18 at the time the class starts in which they would like to enroll.

To apply, we ask that you supply a short written, audio or video application (maximum 5 minutes or 500 words) explaining why you want to learn improvisation.

The successful application will receive a full waiver of their tuition for their first beginner’s class. If they successfully complete the course, they will be offered a 50% discount on future workshops.
