And the 20th Iron Improviser is...

For the 20th time - yes, the 20th time - performers took the stage in pursuit of the title of Iron Improviser. This annual tournament to end all tournaments (until the next year’s tournament) is always a nail-biter, and this year was particularly dramatic as the format switched to a maestro-style game of survivor.

It was only right for this special 20th edition of the short-form tournament to be hosted by Liam - the man behind Improv Queensland’s Theatresports Social Club (TSC). In 2024, we’ve been frolicking in short-form improv a great deal - with TSC, the Theatresports Grand Championships at the Brisbane Comedy Festival, Theatresports at the North Australian Festival of the Arts, and closing out the year with monthly SNAP! Improv shows at The Raven.

Though it was heart-breaking to say goodbye to some players part-way through the show (a micetro necessity) it only inched us closer to identifying the ultimate Iron Improviser for 2024 - a title that comes with high accolades and great expectations from the community to display the highest levels of excellence in all areas.

Out of a squad that included Alex, Glenn, Angie, Jordan, Lara, Kiah, Scott, Will, Amy, Drew and Nat, the 20th Iron Improviser was…Player 7, Will! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
