About the Workshop:
In improv, stage movement can be every bit as important as dialogue. Over 3 hours, we will work on enhancing physicality in any scene by applying elements from different schools of physical theater, namely:
Viewpoints Space (Topography & Architecture) and how to leverage stagecraft to enhance narrative as well as portray relationships and status in a more nuanced way
Laban’s Eight Efforts to tap into characters that are very different from ourselves, therefore expanding our character vocabulary
Lecoq’s chorus and how to use it to transition from surreal group scenes to grounded two or three-person ones, as well as a tool to move the story along
Towards the end of our time together, we will put our recently discovered tools into practice through a jam session/improvised physical piece.
