What to know if you are hosting

Firstly, thank you for hosting one of our Theatresports heats! It means a lot to us and helps us to continue running the competition at convenient locations for participating schools.

Below are some key pieces of information for hosts - please reach out if you have any additional questions.

Timing

We will need access to your space from 5:45pm till about 9:30pm (the show should finish earlier than this, however)

Teams are asked to arrive at the venue at about 6pm with warm ups and pre-show briefing beginning about 6:15pm.

Room set up

Our technical requirements aren’t significant for heats. We will normally require:

  1. A microphone / PA system for our MC.

  2. Two chairs for our MC and Musician to use.

  3. A powerpoint / extension cord for our musician to plug-into.

  4. Two chairs or stage risers for students to use during scenes (optional).

We also ask that a table and chair is made available to assist with ticket sales outside the venue (we can set these up).

Snacks / fundraising

We love it when school set up a snacks or drinks table for the audience, which can be done as a fundraiser. This is entirely up to you, however.

Signage

We will be providing attending teams a map of your school and directions to the venue.

It can also be good for there to be “Theatresports this way” signs if you think it will help people find your venue. We can assist with these if this will help.

Risk Assessment

We have completed a risk assessment for the event. You can download it here.
