Brisbane, Australia – As the city’s Halloween frights and festivities reach their peak, Improv Queensland, the city’s longest-running improv company, will unleash one final terror. From October 30th to November 1st, the company's newest unscripted production, Horror High, will invite audiences to its eerie high school campus where every scream is blood-curdling.

Blending the suspense of a slasher film with the spontaneity and humour of live improv, Horror High is a long-form genre play brought to life - and death - by Improv Queensland’s stellar cast of performers poised to deliver exam stress, dismissive adults, suspicious faculty members and teen romance interrupted by bouts of sheer slasher violence.

Each night will boast its own fresh narrative - a new opportunity for each character to make it through the night alive. The unscripted nature of Horror High delivers a custom treat for each audience, reflecting their unique appetite for monsters, the supernatural, or plain old killers in hockey masks.

In keeping with the spirit of the season, guests are welcome to attend in full-blown horror costumes and Halloween disguises, or adorn themselves with their most comfortable tracksuits and blankets. All are invited to feel the heart-pounding, shared energy that defines this latest production from Improv Queensland - this Halloween at Backdock Arts.

About Improv Queensland

Improv Queensland (formerly ImproMafia) was founded in 2004 with the goal of spreading and celebrating the joy of improvised performance and unscripted theatre. From our humble beginnings on pub stages, we've grown to become Brisbane’s best-known improvisation company, performing locally and internationally, participating in major festivals, and providing world-class training.

We specialise in Keith Johnstone’s classic Theatresports™ format, as well as our own unique style of long-form genre plays, often featuring extravagant costumes and sets, larger-than-life characters, and inventive special effects. Our performers explore emotion, truth, and humour, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through unscripted theatre.

We live and breathe improv, and we hope this passion is reflected in the energy and enthusiasm that we bring to each and every performance and classroom.
