A fun, friendly one-hour introduction to improvisation
Our taster sessions are intended to give you a quick taste of what our improv classes have to offer. We will run through some basic improv (or impro) activities, introduce you to some of our teachers and show you what improv is actually like.
No improv or acting experience required.
What to expect
Our taster sessions are designed to give you a short introduction to what our longer beginner courses involve. You will learn about some basic improv concepts, such as accepting and blocking, try out improv for yourself by playing 1 or 2 improv games with a friendly group, and meet one of our experienced teachers.
Is improv for me?
Everyone is different, but improv can be great for developing valuable skills, such as:
Try something creative
Get better at thinking on your feet and responding in the moment
Improve your communication and public speaking skills
Develop your acting or performance skills

No. Our taster classes are designed for all experience levels and abilities.

Of course not! Our approach to improvisation isn’t about aiming for funny, but to discover the humour naturally through applying improv technique.

Wear something comfortable you are happy moving around in. There is some (light) physicality.

There is plenty of paid and unpaid parking in the QUT precinct. It can be tricky on a Saturday morning with the markets so we recommend giving yourself some time to find a park at those times.

Nothing except maybe a water bottle in case you get thirsty.
