Learn to Improvise: The Basics

This beginners course is designed to introduce you to the basics of improvised theatre in a fun and friendly environment.

Over the course of the eight weeks, participants will be gradually introduced to performing Theatresports games and scenes, and will learn to hit the stage with confidence and playfulness.

The classes are suitable for anyone interested in performing impro, as well as those interested in improving their public speaking and creativity or expanding their theatrical toolbox.

You will learn techniques to:

-Trust your creative impulse
-Be present and in the moment
-Accept and build on ideas
-Embrace failure

All participants will be invited to demonstrate their skills at a graduation show at the end of the workshop.

Please note: Our classes are primarily aimed at adults. If you are under 18, let us know and we will confirm if you can attend the class.

This workshop is Covid-safe.

Your Teacher Siobhan Finniss

Siobhan has training in multiple creative disciplines and is a graduate of UQ Drama and QUT Film and Television. She has worked in scripted theatre, been an editor on the animated kids show 'Bluey' and even worked for Channel 7 on the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

Siobhan credits her impro training with removing her creative blocks and allowing her to approach new tasks fearlessly. She is a big believer in the power of impro to increase confidence, improve listening skills and promote joyful social connections.
