ImprovQLD aims to promote the art and the love of improvisation within Queensland.
Our scholarship program assists individuals to join our classes by providing a full waiver of class fees.
We have two scholarships on offer – Artistic and Community.
Artistic Scholarship
We believe that improvisation can inform and be impacted by various art forms. To that end, we offer a scholarship each term to one student who is studying a performing art at a tertiary institution in South-East Queensland. It includes theatre and acting students as well as musicians, dancers, singers and other performers.
To apply, we ask that you supply your performance CV and a short video, audio or written piece on why you are interested in improvisation (maximum 5 minutes or 500 words).
The successful application will receive a waiver of their tuition for their first spontaneity class. If they successfully complete the course, they will be offered a 50% discount on future workshops.
Community Scholarship
To help make improvisation more accessible, each term we offer a community scholarship to someone who would otherwise have difficulty affording the class.
To apply, we ask that you supply a short written, audio or video application (maximum 5 minutes or 500 words) explaining why you want to learn improvisation. You do not need to provide any financial information or provide us with details about your personal situation.
The successful application will receive a full waiver of the tuition fees for one of our workshops. This scholarship can be used for our beginner’s classes or other regular workshops.

FAQ
What if I have missed the due date for the application?
You can apply at anytime. If you have missed the deadline for the current application process, we will consider you for our next set of classes.
Do I have to write 500 words or speak for 5 minutes?
No! You may be able to explain why you want to learn improvisation in a lot less time or fewer words. This is simply a guide to let you know the maximum that we would expect.
What should my application contain?
We want you to keep it simple. All you need to do is send us an email with your contact details plus a short explanation of why you want to learn improvisation (written, audio or video).
How many scholarships do you offer per term?
We aim to offer one scholarship per term for the right application. However, we may offer more or less depending on the applications received.
When will I find out?
We will generally aim to let you know the outcome of the application one week before the beginner’s workshop begins.
Can I apply if I have already paid?
If you apply and are successful, we will refund any payments you have made towards our beginners workshops
Can I apply more than once for a scholarship?
You can only apply once for the performance scholarship. You can apply as many times as you want for the community scholarship.
