April Drop-In Class: Give Me Space

  • The Exchange 81 Musk Avenue Kelvin Grove, QLD, 4059 Australia (map)

Teacher of the Month: Siobhan Finniss

Topic of the Month: Give Me Space

Scientists suggest that between 50 - 90% of all human communication is non-verbal. Yet improvisers often focus on what to say in a scene and ignore the information their body is communicating.

In this class we pay attention to where our body is in space and what this is telling the audience about our relationship to our scene partner. We explore how making deliberate physical and spatial choices can give us delightful and often unexpected inspiration.

About your Teacher:

Siobhan Finniss has trained in multiple creative disciplines and is a graduate of UQ Drama and QUT Film and Television. Siobhan’s other creative endeavours include post-production for short films, live broadcast, television and radio plays. Siobhan credits her improv training with removing her creative blocks and allowing her to be in the moment. She is a Theatresports Grand Champion and former Artistic Director of Improv Queensland.

*Please note: Monthly drop-in classes are available to improvisers who completed a full 6 week (or longer) beginner improv course. If you are not sure if this is you please contact us to discuss.
