Impro summer school

  • The Grand View Room 967 Brunswick St New Farm Australia (map)

Your pals and Improv QLD workshop facilitators Siobhan Finnis and Leica Baker are excited to present a ☀️ Summer School ☀️ program on Saturday 14th January 2023 10am-5pm (did someone say picnic lunch hour?!).

We will be working through exercises extending on what you have learnt in class and doing scene work, as well as giving you room to have fun, play and meet other improvisers during what can traditionally be a quiet time on the Improv QLD artistic calendar. Join us for the day and stretch those impro muscles!

The workshop space is fully accessible and abuts the lovely, leafy New Farm Park.

Note: You need to have completed our beginner’s Learn Improv course to take part. If you would like to take part and have equivalent impro experience please get in contact to discuss (you can email us at training@impromafia.com

About your teachers

Siobhan Finnis

Siobhan has training in multiple creative disciplines and is a graduate of UQ Drama and QUT Film and Television. She began training with Improv QLD Ithen ImproMafia) in 2015 and has gone on to perform in many of the company’s most successful shows including - Murder at the Bowlo, Heartfelt High and Not 4 Kidz. Siobhan’s other creative endeavours include post-production for short films, live broadcast, television and radio plays. She is also a lover of scripted theatre and has experience as an actor, producer and director. Siobhan credits her improv training with removing her creative blocks and allowing her to approach new tasks fearlessly. She is a Theatresports Grand Champion and former Artistic Director of ImproMafia.

Leica Baker

Leica grew up longing to be an actor, so naturally, she became a scientist instead. Her Impro career thus began with Improv QLD (then ImproMafia)... just like yours! Her favourite place to be is in a workshop, exploring ideas and approaches, and brainstorming show concepts with likeminded impro-nerds. Leica is a generous and conscientious facilitator and loves to share her passion with anyone who will listen. Her performance credits include shows in the Brisbane Comedy Festival, Bris Funny Fest, Anywhere Theatre Festival, New Zealand Improv Festival, Singapore Improv Festival and Brisbane Fringe as well as Improv QLD classics like Iron Improviser, Queensland Theatresports Championships, and Micetro.
